Polititions

Image
Politicians are everywhere, and mid-term elections are coming up fast. Washington State has a couple representatives, but right now, we're going to talk about Denny Heck. https://dennyheck.house.gov  This is the website where you can learn more about him and his political views. A small summary of his mission: his top priority is creating new jobs, growing the economy, keeping the  American Dream  alive for the middle class (and those working to get into it). He is an "advocate for the military families and veterans, and is passionate about the health and natural beauty of the Puget Sound." July 19th, 2018, Denny Heck spoke out about the homeless epidemic in Seattle. He wants to support action in helping the homeless by cleaning up areas for building crews to make little communities for them.

Media

After some research on politics in the media, I found that stories are flipped upside-down and inside-out to reflect what the viewers want to see. A story may be true to some capacity, but with a political twist to it, either liberal views or conservative views, a true story could be butchered to get the viewers to react. It's normally known as "fake news". I analyzed two news sources based on the same topic, and I noticed a trend going on, with a neutral lens. I looked at MSNBC News (a leftist news station) on the topic of President Donald J. Trump making serious plans to actually change the Constitution of the United States of America . A summary of what the video I watched said is; the President plans to sign an Executive Order that would remove the right to citizenship for babies of non-citizens and un-authorized immigrants born on US soil. - I do believe that this article is relevant and credible, mainly because the topic of conversation was based on an inte...

Interest Groups

Image
Liberals and conservatives have extreme interest groups, and interest topics. Right now, we're talking about the environment. Greenpeace USA is a Liberal organization that promotes the idea of having clean waters and to recycle to help our environment. ( https://www.greenpeace.org/usa/ ) This picture is the front of this groups' page. It depicts a scuba diver holding up an empty Coca-Cola bottle in the water. This is a big indicator for what this group is about, which is keeping the earth free from garbage and environmental damages. With a liberal look at this article/group, we see them take a more empathetic look at environmental damages. They "care more about the world." Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) is a Conservative organization that tries to warn the public of the costs, both literally and metaphorically, of Global Warming. ( http://www.thegwpf.org/ ) "The Global Warming Policy Foundation is unique. We are an all-party and non-party...

Introduction to Politics

Image
Hello, my name is Aspen, I am a high school senior, I'm 18, and I'm a Republican in Washington state.  I come from a Christian home, and I am the oldest of four children with both of my parents still in the picture. My father owns a pawn shop a city up from where we live, and in a couple of years, I plan on working for him there. After my last high school year, I don't plan on going to a college, but I am excited to move to Greenland to write a novel or two! This blog is about deconstructing American politics to make it simpler to understand. I took a quiz to find out what side I was really  on.  http://www.people-press.org/quiz/political-typology/ And I came out with the title of "Country First Conservatives". I know that a conservative is on the right side, meaning that I'm a Republican. Don't get me wrong, I share many beliefs with Liberals, so I'm not biased. I found this information interesting, as I had never thought of myself as a...
